Hey everyone! So, I finally got myself a pair of loop resistance bands, which I’ve been wanting for a long, long time and I want to share my thoughts on them with you.
First of all, why did I want these resistance bands so badly?
Well, if you’ve ever watched any of my videos, you’ve probably noticed that I love bodyweight workouts. Using the body, and just the body, to build and maintain muscle mass is one of my favorite ways to exercise mainly because it is so accessible and it’s super convenient. You don’t need any equipment or even a gym membership for bodyweight training. It can be done anytime, anywhere and all you need is your body and enough space to move around.
I also love that when performing bodyweight exercises, you have to try out different variations in order to adjust the exercises to your fitness level, instead of just performing the same exercise with different weights.
[For instance, you can switch from a regular push up to knee push-ups in order to make the exercise easier. Or switch to a single-arm push-up to increase difficulty and resistance. This also pushes you to use muscles you probably don’t use much!]
Similarly, one band can be used to increase or decrease resistance just by making the movement bigger or smaller! That would be impossible with something like dumbbells, with which you would just have to switch to a different weight and unless you’re at a gym or have a gym set up in your home, it’s likely you don’t have a lot of dumbbell weight options.
Resistance bands are a great way to add even more resistance (obviously) to your workouts while still preserving the basic elements of training with the body. They are so versatile because they can be used for every muscle in the body and they introduce a lot of movements that you may not be able to do with machines at the gym, or that don’t really work as well without any added resistance.
I also love the fact that you can take them anywhere with you. The pouch they come in is super compact and the bands can be stored in about 2 seconds, which I think is amazing for something that gives you such great results. I don’t want to be setting up any gym equipment or putting heavy dumbbells away in my closet when I’m done with my exercises, so bands are great for a quick, mess-free workout.
Overall, I’m very happy that I finally bought these bands, definitely a great investment! This entire week, I’ve been using them to workout instead of going to the gym and I must say, I’ve had some really awesome workouts. Using them introduced new muscle movements to my exercise routine, and even with the exercises I had done before, such as squats, I could actually feel different muscles working!
The biggest challenge I faced with them is just getting used to the way they feel.
There are certain movements that seemed awkward at first and they kept me wondering whether or not I was doing the exercises correctly. As it turns out, I was doing them correctly, and the movements really were just awkward. However, after performing them a few more times, I am slowly getting used to them, and I’m beginning to like the bands more and more each time I use them.
In this week’s video, you’ll find a more extensive review, as well as a full body workout and information about a giveaway, because I also bought an extra pack of bands to share with you!
Since I was just trying them out in the video, I shared exercises for the entire body including the legs, the core and the arms but after using them regularly, I’d be more than happy to create workouts using the bands that target certain areas, so keep an eye out for those as well…
I hope you enjoy the workout, the review and I also hope you’ll share your thoughts and experiences with resistance bands in the comments!
